Pure wool or blended? What the composition means — and what to wear in summer

What's on the label, what it costs, and what breathes.

By , Mittal & Sons, Chandni Chowk · Counts and prices read from our live catalogue · Updated 27 October 2026

It says so on every cloth. Each design on mittalandsons.ai prints its composition exactly as the mill states it — poly-viscose (26 designs), wool blends (130) or pure wool (29). For an Indian summer the weight of the cloth matters more than the fibre: a light wool or a good poly-viscose both stay comfortable; a heavy cloth of either does not.

Questions people ask

Is this pure wool or blended? How do I know?

Read the composition line on the cloth page — it is the mill's own declaration, printed as given. 'Poly Viscose Blend' is polyester and viscose; 'Fine Wool Blend' and 'Wool Rich' carry wool with other fibres; '100% Wool' or 'Pure Wool' is all wool. At the counter the selvedge and the tag say the same.

Which is better for summer, wool or poly-viscose?

A lighter cloth. Fine worsted wool breathes and wicks, so a light Super 100s–120s is cool to wear; a good poly-viscose is light, breathes acceptably and holds its crease through a humid day. Avoid heavy weights of either in May–September.

Does poly-viscose feel hot?

A light poly-viscose does not. It breathes less than wool, so in peak heat wool is the more comfortable fibre — but poly-viscose recovers from creases better, which is why it is the daily-office choice.

Which lasts longer, wool or a blend?

A wool blend or poly-viscose usually outlasts fine pure wool in daily wear — the polyester share resists abrasion and creasing. Pure wool in a higher Super count is finer and more delicate: keep it for occasions.

Is wool itchy?

Fine worsted suiting is not. The finer the yarn (higher Super number) the smoother it feels; the prickle people remember is coarse, loosely spun wool, not suiting.

What does wool-rich mean?

A blend where wool is the larger share. You get most of wool's drape and breathability at a friendlier price than pure wool.

Do you have 100% wool cloth?

Yes — 29 pure-wool designs online today, Raymond and the Italian mills.
