Wool vs Poly-Wool: Which Suiting to Pick

The real differences, explained without the jargon.

Two of the most common suiting choices are pure wool and poly-wool. Both are good — they simply suit different needs. Here is how to decide.

Pure wool

All-wool suiting breathes well, drapes naturally, and has a soft, premium feel and finish. It is the choice for a special suit, a wedding, or a wardrobe centrepiece you will wear for years.

It needs a little more care — gentle handling and proper storage — and usually costs more.

Poly-wool

Poly-wool blends wool with polyester. The result is more crease-resistant, more durable for daily wear, and easier on the wallet — ideal for office suits and trousers you wear often.

It is slightly less breathable than pure wool, but for everyday use most people barely notice.

Comfort and climate

In Delhi’s heat, a lighter pure wool or a good wool-rich blend will be more comfortable than a heavy polyester-dominant cloth. Weight matters as much as the blend.

Which should you choose?

Choose pure wool for occasions, weddings and your best suit. Choose poly-wool for daily formal wear and value. Many men own both — and we are happy to help you feel the difference in person.
